Project: Make the Road New York. New York, NY. Communications Intern. Immigrant Services. Building the power of immigrant and working-class communities to achieve dignity and justice.

Emily Romero Gonzalez was born in Trujillo, Peru and raised in Stamford, Connecticut. She is passionate about serving undocumented, immigrant and Latinx communities. She has been involved with immigration advocacy groups since high school, with Connecticut Students for a Dream, where she lobbied for a bill to allow undocumented students to access institutional financial aid from public colleges. As a student at Harvard College, she has been treasurer and co-director of Act on a Dream, the College’s student-led immigration advocacy group. She has helped to organize rallies, plan the first ever UndocuGraduation ceremony and create professional development opportunities for undocumented students.

Every summer, Emily has dedicated her time to public service, working with The Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport, CT and the Immigration Center for Women and Children in Los Angeles, CA. Inspired by her family’s immigration story and their tireless work ethic, she hopes to continue to serve immigrant populations as an organizer and in the future, as a lawyer.
