Strengthening Public Institutions Through Responsible Artificial Intelligence Development
Dang Nguyen is an aspiring physician-innovator and public health technologist working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, health equity, and evidence-based public service. Originally from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, he is pursuing graduate training in epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as a Vingroup Scholar and holds an honors degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of South Florida, where he was inducted into Tau Beta Pi. Over the past five years, Dang has led data-driven health initiatives across Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and the United States, with research and leadership experience at Massachusetts General Hospital, American Heart Association, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His work uses artificial intelligence, medical technology, and population health methods to strengthen systems of care for underserved communities. He has contributed to more than 120 publications in leading journals including The Lancet, Nature Medicine, JAMA, BMJ, and PNAS, and his research and policy insights have informed global conversations on non-communicable diseases through the World Health Organization. As a Presidential Public Service Fellow at the Michael Dukakis Institute for Leadership and Innovation, Dang will help draft municipal guidelines that support equitable, transparent and evidence-based use of artificial intelligence in public services.
