Joseph Wilson, Jr. is from Augusta, GA and is a first-year Ph.D. student in Population Health Sciences (Environmental Health track). His research interests center around children’s health, housing inequality, community-based public health, and environmental justice. He received his B.A in Psychology and Public Health from Williams College and Master’s of Health Science (M.H.S.) in Environmental Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Prior to coming to Harvard, Joseph worked as a program coordinator for the Region 2 Pediatric Environmental Specialty Unit (PEHSU) and the New York State Children’s Environmental Health Center (NYSCHECK), both based at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai in New York City. In this role, Joseph managed consultations for the PEHSU and served as the lead on the “Prescriptions for Prevention” project, which connects families to local resources and interventions that address environmental health concerns.

This summer, Joseph will be at the New England Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit as a community engagement and environmental justice intern. In this role, he will help build capacity and spur efforts related to community collaboration, education, outreach, and advocacy through the lens of environmental justice.
