Salma Elsayed is a rising senior in Dunster House from Queens, New York. She is studying Social Studies with a focus on Education, Technology, and Inequality and a secondary in Computer Science. On campus, she is deeply involved with the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter (HSHS) and is currently serving as the Staff Director in Training. She has also been involved in a number of other public service organizations including the Student Labor Action Movement, the Housing Opportunities Program, and has served as the Advocacy, Health, and Housing Programming Group Officer at the Phillips Brooks House Association (PBHA). When she is not in PBHA or at HSHS, you can find her exploring neighborhoods in Greater Boston or watching the sunset along the Charles River.

Growing up in New York City, Salma spent several years working with education advocacy organizations and policymakers on issues such as culturally-responsive learning, school funding, and civic education. This summer, she is excited to return to her hometown and explore her interest in education law as an intern for The Legal Aid Society’s Education Advocacy Project (EAP). EAP combines her passion for direct service and advocacy by supporting youth involved in child welfare and juvenile delinquency cases and engaging in systemic advocacy to protect students’ educational rights.
