Tarina Ahuja is a rising senior at Harvard College studying Social Studies with a focus on Political Empathy and Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. She is dedicated to building just institutions grounded in empathy. Her passions are centered on a desire to build communities of care. She is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit Young Khalsa Girls, a grassroots organization founded in 2012 with a mission of empowering young women of color to serve their communities through selfless service and advocacy. She is also the co-founder and president of The Greater Good Initiative, a youth-led, youth-run, national policy think-tank working to write and advocate for policy at the local, state, and federal levels in the sectors of economy, public health, education, civil rights, and environment. On campus, she is the Captain of Harvard Bhangra, and previously served as the Director of Diversity and Outreach at the Institute of Politics.

This summer, Tarina will be working with the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund to build out a new program called the National Sikh Youth Council. This will serve as a space for building resources, opportunities, and connections for Sikhs around the nation. The Council will be a hub for organizational connection, resource sharing, and SALDEF support for existing Sikh youth organizations like university student associations and other youth-led community organizations. It will also operate its own projects and initiatives in partnership with SALDEF. Tarina is excited to help lift the Sikh American youth voice.
