Boston Refugee Youth Enrichment | Boston, MA

Thu Pham is a rising junior from Fort Worth, Texas, pursuing a joint concentration in Computer Science and Statistics, a secondary in Educational Studies, and citation in Spanish. This summer, she is ecstatic to be serving as a co-director of Boston Refugee Youth Enrichment (BRYE), which she has been involved with since the beginning of her freshman year. As a co-director, she will work to provide a summer of academic enrichment, personal growth, leadership development, and fun to immigrant and refugee youth in Dorchester. She is passionate about working towards equitable education for all youth – in particular, she is drawn to working with the population of BRYE because of her own family’s refugee experience. After this summer, she has long-term interests in education and hopes to pursue a career in the field, perhaps through policy, technology, teaching, or some combination of the three!

On campus, Thu continues her work with BRYE as a term-time co-director. She also works as a calculus course assistant and research assistant for Professor Winnie Van Dijk’s project on New York City's Universal Access to Counsel law. Outside of that, she enjoys volunteering with the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, singing with the Noteables, sharing cultural pride and love with the Harvard Vietnamese Association, and running along the Charles River.
