The Presidential Public Service Fellowship gave me an unprecedented exposure to safety net healthcare early in my training; my commitment to clinical care for vulnerable groups as well as advocacy and research focusing on improving health outcomes are a direct result of these experiences. Read more After graduating from dental school, I completed residency in a community health center and then joined the faculty of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and became the dentist for the Nashua Street Jail in downtown Boston. I helped found a student-faculty collaborative clinic that allows health professions students to care for patients experiencing incarceration and better understand the impact of the justice system on health. While still working at the jail and dental school, I am also now a medical student at Harvard Medical School, working to unite the medical and dental systems to improve the health of my patients.
